The Ontario
Association of Architects (OAA) is a self-regulating
organization governed by the Architects Act, which is
a statute of the Government
of Ontario. The OAA
is dedicated to promoting and increasing the knowledge,
skill and proficiency of its members, and administering
the Architects Act,
in order that the public interest may be served and
protected.
A society of the OAA,
the Niagara Society of
Architects (NSA) is one of 14 regional subsidiary
non-profit organizations of professional architects,
intern architects, or, individuals that, through their
related professions/interests, are nominated as honorary
members or sponsor members.
The NSA
provides:
A venue for dialogue between regional architects;
A support network for professional advice;
Social interaction among the local architectural community;
Opportunities for community leadership; and,
Continuing education.
The NSA
acts as a collective forum for issues directly affecting
the practice of its members as well as for promoting
an understanding of the practice of architecture and
our role in the construction industry and our local
economy. We recognize Niagara talent and achievements
in our common field of endeavour. Through sponsorship
and volunteer time, the NSA
works with local organizations to offer architectural
walking tours of our rich building and urban design
heritage.
We host lectures and exhibitions on
the architecture of Niagara’s past, present and
future and we participate in or organize charitable
events in the communities where our members live and
work. By election, we appoint Society executive officers
to organize monthly meetings and manage/document our
activities.
